Experimentation - the antidote to uncertainty.
In times of stress, a natural human reaction is to try and ‘fix’ the issue at hand; but given during a pandemic the issue is a moving target, what do you do?
The uncertainty right now might not be the best time to roll out drastic and permanent changes to your strategy. It is however a perfect opportunity to experiment.
Is remote working emphasising problems with existing processes? Experiment.
Is your onboarding process in need of improvement? Experiment.
Could your employee communications use a revamp? Experiment.
Could your customer experience benefit from some reframing of how you deliver services? Experiment.
We’re all in a learning mindset at the moment. You’ve had to adapt quickly to remote working, using video conferencing and other collaboration tools you may have never otherwise considered. Given the scale of the change and the time to execute it that’s an impressive achievement, it proves that with moment’s notice and the right motivation you can pivot and work out the details as you go – that’s a series of experiments.
No matter where things go from here the path is unchartered. Continue to support your teams learning mindset with positive messages and the freedom to experiment. Testing new ways of operating now and building the muscle of experimentation are great tools to set you up for whatever the next normal throws at you.
